Warm black ink tendrils and grey wash surround a central roundel of patchwork squares in mustard ochre, petrol teal and oxblood red. Scratched line work textures the form, with red watercolour bleeding across the bone-white ground.

I built that central roundel up in layers, kept adding to it. The tendrils coming in from the edges came last, like something reaching in. The red bleeding into the white I didn't plan but I left it.
